How to measure vibration with ATO vibration meter?

Image
ATO vibration meter is portable and compact portable vibration meter. It is a rechargeable, simple and convenient for use, and has different vibration frequency selection with two probes, the short one and the long one, thus which is applied for different applications. With backlight LCD display, it is easy for user to get the readings. The vibration meter can be used to measure the acceleration, velocity and displacement and widely applied for machinery, motors, bearings and other equipment. due to its the simple operation, this handheld vibration meter make it simple to monitor the machine vibration and make sure the machine runs smoothly. In this video, ATO will tell you how to use this vibration meter and measure the vibration of a motor. It is so easy. Don't believe? Play the video.

VFD for Single Phase Motor

Image
Controlling the motor speed offers many advantages. First, the VFD provides greater efficiency in both power use and transfer rate in a pump or motor. The VFD senses the load on the system and provides power to compensate. It also manages such problems as system malfunctions and overloads. This automatic, intelligent control can extend motor life, prevent system failure, and increase operational output. Starting a single phase motors is different from a three phase motor but it is possible to have a VFD specially designed to meet the requirements of a single phase motor. But surely the motor needs to be an inverter grade, basically what it means is the insulation class of the motor to be improved. Can be cumbersome job to re-wind the single phase motors to meet the inverter grade (Class F / H) , but still i am wondering if there would there is a way to control the voltage spike at the inverter output like adding a first order or a second order filter to improve the voltage THD an...

Wiring BLDC Motor with Controller

Image
To understand why a BLDC motor is so effective, it's important to have a good understanding of how it works. There are actually two different types, with different benefits and drawbacks. While either one will probably be effective for most jobs, you may wish to familiarize yourself with both types, just in case one would be more appropriate for your project or application than the other. BLDC motors are often preferred in motion-control applications as their benefits outweigh potentially higher costs. When it comes to energy-, maintenance- and downtime-related costs, brushless DC motors may cost less than brush types in some applications. Brushless DC motors come in two varieties, "sensored" and sensorless. The sensored motors include Hall-effect sensors that respond to the magnets on the motor's core. As a result, the controller can determine the position of the rotor from the sensor signals. Thus when the controller starts the motor it decides which coils to e...

How to Test a Solenoid Valve?

Image
Solenoids are found in almost all electrical appliances, from electronic door locks to the more complex machines. They are made of thin wires coiled around each other, and when current is applied to it, it produces magnetic fields for valves and switches. There are several ways to snub the spike, and one of the ways is application of a diode across the coil, reverse biased against the current supply. This diode is often called a flywheel diode, and it provides the path for the current in the coil when the solenoid is switched off - thus eliminating completely the voltage surge. One of the drawbacks of this arrangement is the increased valve switch-off time, but when the switching speed is not an issue - this is a cheap and reliable solution to protect the circuitry against the spike. If you want to know more about coil transient voltage suppression - you can easily find more detailed information online. Few things shouldn’t be omitted before going into the full test on the solenoi...
